Are you a certified Level III Water Treatment Plant Operator looking to gain experience in a larger plant? We have the perfect opportunity to expand your experience! Your responsibilities include performing daily operational and maintenance duties, equipment repairs, complete facility maintenance, laboratory tests and reporting to meet prescribed standards for the 24 hour operation of the Water Treatment Plant as well as the future Residuals Handling Plant currently under construction.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Must have the ability to successfully complete the Alberta Level III Water Treatment Certificate.
  • Sound knowledge of current practices, materials, tools/equipment and methods used in Water Treatment Plant operations, laboratory and maintenance.
  • Ensures accurate completion of operational, maintenance and other records necessary to ensure Alberta Environmental and Protected Areas Approval and plant process requirements are being met.
  • Ensures by written and verbal communication that administrative and maintenance personnel are kept informed regarding the plants' operational and mechanical status.
  • Performs sampling and laboratory tests, as required.
  • Is required to properly batch, mix and handle chemicals as required.
  • Sound knowledge of plant heating, ventilation, electrical and instrumentation / control, process, mechanical and SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Hach WIMS would be an asset.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Possess Grade 12 with advanced Math 30 and Chemistry 30.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Level 3 Alberta Environment Water Treatment Certificate.
  • Must hold a valid Standard First Aid Certificate and WHMIS certification.
  • An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.
  • Required to obtain an Alberta Level 3 Water Treatment Certification within the time frame outlined below. This includes the completion of an assigned study program. Progress as defined by the WTP Superintendent or Manager of Water & Wastewater Treatment must be achieved within the defined period set in offer of employment period.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with an acceptable driving record;
  • Equivalent combination of management approved experience will be considered.
  • This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
