Description
Summary
The challenge of this position is to contribute your experience, skill, and leadership abilities to the operation of Aquatera’s Solid Waste Facilities. The department includes the Eco Centre and a Solid Waste Class II Bioreactor cell with landfill gas collection, a Transfer Station, and multiple waste diversion and recycling programs. Aquatera has embraced a culture of continuous improvement, and this is an expectation of all staff along with exceptional customer service skills.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Commitment to excellence in customer service
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Successful completion of 50 lb. physical fitness test
  • Valid Canadian Provincial driver’s license (Non GDL); Class 3 with Q endorsement (air brakes) is an asset
  • Documented experience and certification on heavy equipment such as: Loaders, Excavators and Bulldozers will be an asset
  • Landfill certification will be an asset
  • Must provide a current, 5-year driver’s abstract satisfactory to the employer
  • Must provide own CSA Approved (with green triangle) safety footwear


Minimum Learning requirements to be achieved by the completion of the probation period:

  • WHMIS training
  • Emergency Response Plan
  • Site safety equipment location
  • Radio protocol
  • Union contact identification/introduction
  • New Hire orientation package
  • Aquatera Core Values and Principals
Requirements

Operational duties:

  • Excellent communication skills essential.
  • Considerable public interface required;
  • Ability to perform tasks with considerable physical demands
  • Operate half ton and three-quarter ton pickup truck
  • Control ECO Centre and transfer station activities
  • Control activities associated with the recycling and source segregation areas on site
  • Collect and sort household hazardous waste
  • Maintain housekeeping on site, off site and within all buildings
  • Control traffic at scale house
  • Utilize fuel and flammable materials storage and safe transfer procedures
  • Grass cutting/snow removal both with and without mechanized equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide or complete the following prior to their start date:

  • A copy of a current Canadian driver’s license, (minimum Class 5)
  • A current driver’s abstract satisfactory to the Employer
  • Pass a 50 lb. physical fitness test
  • Complete a comprehensive drug and alcohol test with results satisfactory to the
