Summary:

We are currently recruiting a Treatment Operations Skilled Labourer for our Water and Wastewater Treatment facility. This job is for a physically active person who gets a great deal of satisfaction from doing the job right every time. A highly motivated, skilled, and independent worker will enjoy the opportunity to work with different operational groups on-site to accomplish a variety of tasks. This role will support Aquatera’s culture of continuous improvement.

This worker will report to the Water and Wastewater Treatment Operations Manager and assist in the overall maintenance requirements of both the water and wastewater treatment facilities and related infrastructure.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

  • Participate in daily meetings related to safety and work scheduling
  • Maintain road access and dumping pad to the Sump facility
  • Complete onsite scheduled testing
  • Work with Maintenance team to complete tasks assigned through Cityworks
  • Assist in the troubleshooting and repair of equipment and/or replacement
  • Assist with routine maintenance procedures on machinery and equipment including greasing, tightening or replacing belts, and APU filter changes
  • Assists in the preventive and corrective building maintenance repair duties including general clean up, small drywall repairs, door repairs
  • Conduct regular inspections to determine areas that need attention and then perform the tasks
  • Interact with customers at septic receiving station to perform scheduled testing
  • Purchase and/or pick up supplies, equipment, and material necessary to complete tasks
  • Perform skid steer operational duties, snow removal, sump pad cleaning, loading and unloading of freight
  • Perform fleet duties, cleaning, and minor preventative maintenance
  • Assist in the organization of parts and supply inventory
  • Perform a variety of general and grounds maintenance in and around plant and related urban and/or rural facilities
  • Participate in safety programs including hazard identification and incident reporting
  • Assist with health and safety related tasks including SWP’s and Hazard Assessments development
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Have Mechanical inclination will be an asset

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma
  • Class five (5) drivers license, Class 3 would be an asset
  • Possession of First Aid, H2S, Fall Protection, Confined Space, and Ground Disturbance certificates would be an asset
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Experience using Cityworks to organize and identify work requirements would be an asset
  • Experience or training in operation of a skid steer, backhoe or additional equipment
  • Good mechanical skills including hand and power tools are required with trades training an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of safe work practices and hazard identification
  • Experience related to general commercial building and grounds maintenance
  • Experience with small equipment maintenance would be an asset
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide a 5-year driver’s abstract satisfactory to the Employer and pass a 50 lb. fitness test

As conditions of employment the following will be required: 

  • Provision of a valid Canadian Driver’s license acceptable to the Employer
  • Provision of a Driver’s Abstract satisfactory to the employer
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment 50 lb. physical fitness test
  • Completion of a comprehensive drug and alcohol test with results satisfactory to the Employer
