The Superintendent of Field Maintenance will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective planning, coordination, and supervision of all field maintenance activities of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Reporting directly to the Manager-Field Operations, the successful candidate will lead both permanent and seasonal employees, as well as contractors engaged in maintenance projects, to uphold regulatory compliance and meet organizational objectives.

  • Proven leadership capabilities with the ability to maintain and promote a cooperative work environment.
  • Thorough understanding of municipal water distribution and wastewater collection systems, processes and operation.
  • Proven to effectively plan, supervise, evaluate, coordinate and schedule work activities of subordinates.
  • Working knowledge of civil, mechanical, and electrical construction with an emphasis on pumping stations, deep utilities and subdivision development.
  • Thorough working knowledge of contract tender principles, procedures, and administration.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a two (2) year diploma in Civil or Water Resources Technology or Environmental Studies or related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Five (5) years of directly related experience, including four (4) years supervisory experience.
  • Possession of unrestricted Alberta Environmental Protection (AEP) Level 4 Certification in both Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Systems.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • An equivalent combination of management approved training and education may be considered.
