 This posting is for up to three (3) full time and/or part-time temporary positions that may continue for up to 11 months in duration.

If you enjoy providing superior customer service to your clients while working in a multi-functional environment then come and be part of the Current Planning Branch. You will be responding to a high volume of inquiries related to development and zoning services within the City of Edmonton to ensure compliance with the Edmonton Zoning Bylaw and Municipal Government Act as related to planning operations. You will also be providing customer service at the front counter and inform clients of the submission requirements for complete applications.

Some of the other key tasks you will be involved in include:

• Providing customers (internal and external) with knowledgeable and timely responses to their inquires related to development regulations or zoning bylaws and providing technical advise and instructions regarding policy and procedures
• Providing instructions for other City Services and referring customers as required to the appropriate departments for additional information
• Reviewing and processing zoning clearances as they relate to business licenses
• Reviewing and processing Minor Development Permits

Requirements

 • Completion of a two (2) year diploma in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent from a recognized Institute of Technology or Community College with appropriate specialization relative to the job posting, or completion of an undergraduate degree in Urban Planning or a related field with additional related technical training
• Two (2) years of experience related to Zoning and/or Development
• Knowledge/experience of planning terminology, practices, procedures, and standards and work methods applied within a planning environment
• Knowledge of regulatory, advisory, and other legislative bodies related to Land Use Planning and associated policies, procedures, and regulations
• Proficiency and accuracy in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and Google Gmail
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, professionalism and diplomacy in dealing with the public
• Ability to read blueprints
• Demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service
• Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License or operators licensing equivalent recognized by the Operator Licensing and Vehicle Control Regulations, Alta. Reg 320/2002

Note: Those applicants not possessing the full job requirements for this position may be considered for appointment in accordance with the Opportunity Concept provisions of the collective agreement between the City and CSU 52

Job sharing may be a possibility where there may be up to two (2) part-time positions that could work for up to 16.87 hours per week.

Salary & Benefits

Hour of Work: 16.87 - 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program

Salary Range: 21M, Salary Grade: 019, $32.370 - $40.687 (Hourly). Opportunity Concept Salary Range: 21A, Salary Grade: 014, $24.734 - $29.694 (Hourly). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton
