As an Accountant in this distinctive role, your wide range of duties include:
- Maintaining an understanding of all land development activities to prepare and update long range land development models ensuring alignment to proforma forecasts, capital spending forecasts, and operational developmental plans
- Overseeing land inventory transactional costing allocations and maintenance of land holding records, ensuring accurate allocation between municipal purpose and land resale
- Preparing monthly performance reports for various Directors, including variance analysis, monthly progress reports for land development activities, and capital performance reports
- Conducting financial analysis to support operating and capital budget development
- Maintaining necessary financial budget documentation to support budget submissions including personnel, land development and sales models, service packages, and cost model analysis to support interdepartmental charges and recoveries
- Updating capital budgets as required
- Overseeing and maintaining SAP projection changes and budget loads within specified timelines
- Identifying and executing required year-end journal entries, overseeing year-end procedures, and following year-end cut off schedules. Communicating these year-end expectations with land enterprise staff to ensure deadlines are met
- Identifying efficient uses of data systems (SAP, POSSE, Budget) to streamline processes, while troubleshooting systems
- Identifying control weaknesses and reporting potential options for improvements
- A professional Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA) OR an accounting-related Business Degree (bachelor or applied)
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including full cycle, year-end accounting experience
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, requirements and practices
- A knowledge of the corporate financial system (SAP) and its inter-relationship to departmental accounting operations would be an asset
- Ability to think logically and complete work with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to make decisions and problem solve independently within the scope of the position
- Strong Excel, Word and database skills required. Familiarity with Google Docs, Google Gmail, POSSE, and Budget is an asset
- Ability to prepare a variety of complex and diverse financial statements and reports
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
- Ability maintain working relationships with all levels of management and non-management personnel

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program
Salary Range: 21M, Salary Grade: 025, $35.631 - $44.736 (Hourly), $62,772.91 - $78,813.65 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmon
