Join the City of Edmonton’s Economic Sustainability team! Help shape the future prosperity of our city through the implementation of Edmonton’s new economic development strategy: The Way We Prosper.
In your new role as Senior Business Consultant, we’ll be looking to you to:
LEAD –the business processes for realization of the vision identified in The Way We Prosper, by creating and delivering on an implementation plan for the strategy.
ENSURE – success of The Way We Prosper through collaborating with key stakeholders in the creation and monitoring of key performance measures.
CREATE – annual business plans and strategic action plans to shape the work of the Economic Sustainability section and advance key initiatives.
ENGAGE – people from areas across the organization, the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation and external organizations like the Chamber of Commerce, the Alberta Heartland Industrial Association and the Greater Edmonton Economic Development Team.
SHAPE – the direction of economic development in Edmonton by providing advice and recommendations to the Branch and Department’s senior management team.
COMMUNICATE – the success and progress of The Way We Prosper by providing regular updates to stakeholders, the business community and key partners.
• A degree in Business Administration, Planning, Economics, Economic Development, or a related degree. A graduate degree in a related field is an asset
• 6-8-years of progressively responsible experience working in large organizations. Working knowledge of the City organization and management personnel is an asset
• The drive and motivation to excel in the context of a highly performing Branch and team with ambitious time lines
• Exceptional strategic-thinking, problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Rigorous research skills and the ability synthesize a large amount of data to inform the creation of strategy, policy and actions
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
• Proven ability to respond to political and executive requirements, including the ability to anticipate needs and expectations and allow issues to be proactively addressed
• The confidence and ability to engage internal and external stakeholders, government, business and not-for-profit representatives in a manner constructive to the interests of The Way We Prosper and the Branch

Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Salary Range: 91M, Salary Grade: PT2, $35.087 - $50.123 (Hourly); $67,583.88 - $96,545.952 (Annually)
