About the Role
Vacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Community Programs, Recreation and Fitness, the successful candidate will be required to supervise and maintain a fitness training centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing facility tours, quality customer service and participation in related special events.
- Active supervision of a fitness centre, change rooms and associated facilities.
- Demonstration of fitness equipment and appropriate exercises.
- General cleaning and maintenance of equipment and completion of associated records.
- Ensuring the health and safety of all members.
- Preventing accidents, responding to emergency situations and as required, and completing incident reports.
- Utilizing strong customer service skills, when working with a range of ages and abilities.
- Completing assigned administrative tasks and responsibilities.
- Conducting fitness assessments, program design, training sessions and coaching as required.
What you bring
- Degree /or Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion, Kinesiology, CanFit PT or equivalent.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C and AED qualifications.
- Demonstrated experience working with the public, preferably in a program delivery/customer service environment.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated and able to promote a healthy lifestyle.
- Candidates must be available to perform an audition, demonstrating a safe and effective program following the formal interview.
- Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Must be legally able to work in Canada.
What we offer
- Rate of Pay: $28.10 per hour (2026 rate)
- Hours of work: up to a maximum of 24 hours per week including days, evenings, weekends and holidays at any municipally operated Community Services Department facility.
Additional Information
A satisfactory criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening and proof of qualifications will be required for the successful candidate.
Pre-employment testing may consist of written and oral assessments.
