You’ll work within a team where service excellence, learning and knowledge sharing, and feedback and accountability are highly valued, and where communication, trust, respect, and positivity form the foundation for everything we do.

The Community Services Division – Events is seeking a highly organized and motivated Program Leader II to support the planning and delivery of multiple community events and festivals throughout the spring and summer (May through August). This position will play a key role in event production and will act as Team Lead for the Saanich Strawberry Festival, supporting the coordination of staff, volunteers, and event logistics.

Under the general direction of a Programmer, the Program Leader II will provide leadership in planning, coordinating, and delivering events, including scheduling, supplier coordination, program development, and on-site event execution. Responsibilities include supporting marketing and promotional activities, maintaining event budgets, booking vendors and services, coordinating staff and volunteers, and ensuring overall program quality and safety. The role will involve primarily office-based planning work, with on-site responsibilities during event days, including supervising teams, responding to operational issues, and supporting event setup and teardown.

Requirements

Requirements include completion of Grade 12; enrollment in a post-secondary program or certification in a related field is preferred; and a minimum of six months’ experience in program planning and administration within a recreation or event-based setting, including staff or volunteer supervision. The majority of shifts will be during business hours, with evening and weekend work concentrated on event weekends. As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted. Although we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.
