The Fleet Services Section is seeking Fleet Equipment Technicians who will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair, and daily running of all Public Works small tools and equipment. This includes maintaining the equipment tool crib areas, tracking and purchasing the required inventory of repair/replacement parts, scheduling and carrying out major overhauls, and performing minor repairs and welding services. They will also assist the Fleet Operations Centre as required.
Requirements include: Grade 12 or equivalent; One year of post-secondary education related to equipment and maintenance; Two years of experience performing vehicle or equipment service and minor maintenance tasks in a shop environment; Knowledge of methods and practices used in servicing and maintaining equipment; Knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations, WHMIS, and the Motor Vehicle Act; Valid Class 5 BC Driver's licence; An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The following would be considered an asset:
- Valid Class 3 BC Driver's licence with air brake endorsement and/or heavy trailer endorsement.
- Fork lift certification.
- Experience working in a Fleet and/or Public Works shop environment.
- Experience and/or training in welding.
The successful candidates will work Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm or 7:30am-4:00pm. (40 hours per week). As a component of the selection process, testing may be conducted. Although we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.
