1. Work in Phases  

If your budget for a given year is limited, a recurring and well-planned investment allows you to develop a decorating concept across several distinct phases. The cumulative effect of these phases will help you reach the level of impact you're looking for. This phased approach offers two great possibilities: enhancing the same site year after year by gradually enriching its décor, expanding your reach by adding new sites with each phase, or even combining both depending on how your priorities evolve.  

Good planning is essential! The elements across the different phases must blend harmoniously and present strong cohesion, all in service to the atmosphere you're trying to create. The initial phases shouldn't feel incomplete; each one must be beautiful and confident on their own.

2. Use the "One in Two" Strategy

It's often more effective to spread décors across a larger area rather than concentrating on them. On a street with 20 lampposts and a budget that covers 10, it's better to space them out along the entire length, decorating every other lamppost, rather than leaving half the street in darkness.  

The same principle applies to trees in a park or along a street: for the same budget, illuminating every other tree creates a more generous spread of light that often has more impact than an intense but concentrated display on just a few trees.

3. Embrace Variation

Too much repetition can cause a viewer to lose interest. If you're decorating two streets, it's preferable to choose a different lamppost motif for each one, making sure they complement each other harmoniously. The change from one street to the next creates a sense of surprise and renews the sense of wonder.   

That said, it all depends on the effect you're going on. Some clients prefer a signature look, with one motif repeated from end to end to create a strong visual identity and a cohesive atmosphere. In that case, repetition becomes a powerful tool that leaves a lasting impression.  

Variation can also come from the mix of décor types. In a park, rather than wrapping every tree in garland, it's often more effective to illuminate every other tree and dedicate the remaining budget to ground-level décors. This creates a staging where each element plays its role in a richer, more memorable light story.

4. Incorporate Daytime Elements

Choosing décors that include non-luminous elements, decorative mesh, frosted materials, glitter, balls, and discs, gives them aesthetic value even in broad daylight. This is especially important in public squares, parks, and markets, where passersby get up close and observe every detail well before sunset.  

These elements offer a level of sophistication that catches the eye and inspires wonder even before the LED their magic - particularly our e-decos, 3D-printed designs made from recycled or bio-based materials, which can be crafted with very tight curves and arabesques based on highly intricate patterns.

5. Add dynamic animation accessories

Flashing bulbs, twinkling garlands, chasing strands, or color-cycling elements bring unmatched vitality to any display. A successful design pleases the eye, but when it incorporates a dynamic element, the eye isn't just delighted; it's drawn in.  

Lamppost displays featuring dynamic components are visible from farther away: you spot them at the end of a street, their lights dancing, and you can't help but walk toward them. These décors are simply more alive!
