Quinte West City Council has voted to ratify a new three-year collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 799.3, the union representing more than 145 inside and outside workers. Council's ratification follows a vote to ratify the contract by CUPE 799.3 members on Monday, July 13, 2026.
Highlights of the three-year agreement include:
- A 3% per year wage increase, totalling 9% over the next three years.
- Enhancements to shift premiums including increases to on-call and call-to-work rates.
- Increases to health benefits including enhanced vision and dental coverage.
The agreement was reached after extensive collective bargaining following the expiry of the previous collective agreement on March 31, 2026.
The City recognizes and appreciates the commitment shown by both the union and employer bargaining teams to the negotiation process. These efforts have resulted in an agreement that supports employees while enabling the City to continue delivering the high-quality municipal services residents rely on.
The renewed agreement provides stability for employees, the organization and the community over the next three years, and reinforces Quinte West's commitment to being a great place to work, live and play.
