Compare, critique & clarify your housing policies and data in minutes

April 7, 2026

If you work in municipal housing, you already know the challenge.

Policies, strategies, infrastructure plans, and reports are often created at different times, by different teams, using different language and assumptions. Bringing them together into a clear picture of what is actually happening, and what decisions they support, can be difficult and time-consuming.

In many cases, answering simple but critical questions takes hours:

  • How do these policies align?
  • Where do they conflict?
  • What assumptions are shaping these decisions?

UnDashboard is a new tool designed to make that work easier.

It allows municipal teams to upload and analyze their policy and data artifacts in one place, helping them quickly understand how everything fits together. Using a structured approach, the tool enables users to:

  • compare documents side by side
  • identify inconsistencies and gaps
  • surface hidden assumptions
  • assess materials through objective, system, and equity lenses

Rather than replacing existing tools, UnDashboard works alongside them, helping teams get more value from the information they already have.

The result is less time spent trying to interpret complex materials, and more confidence in the decisions that follow.

UnDashboard was developed with municipal partners as part of a multi-year research initiative focused on improving housing decision-making across Canada.

It was developed with support from the Government of Canada's Ministry of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities and is completely free for municipal teams to use.
