Government of Canada invests in 2026 AFMO Conference to drive innovation among Francophone municipalities

March 25, 2026

The Government of Canada is investing in Francophone municipal leadership through targeted support for the 2026 AFMO Conference. On March 24, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for FedNor, announced a $15,000 investment to help the Association française des municipalités de l'Ontario (AFMO) deliver this major event in Sudbury on March 25-26, 2026.

The 2026 AFMO Conference will bring together municipal leaders, managers, and partners from across Ontario for a strategic gathering focused on innovation, influence, and the lasting impact of Francophone and Francophile municipalities. The event will create a space to anticipate emerging challenges, co-create practical solutions, and strengthen the alliances shaping municipal development in French-speaking Ontario.

The conference will help Francophone municipalities adapt policies, address local priorities, advocate for their needs, and provide opportunities for knowledge sharing, training, and networking. The event is also expected to provide an immediate economic boost for Sudbury and the surrounding region.
