Job Summary:
The role works with departmental staff across the organization to identify and implement GIS solutions (applications, data products, analysis work) that improve business processes, effectiveness and support decision making.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Work with business units to advise and educate around GIS capabilities.
- Work with business units to identify, design and implement GIS solutions
- Work with business units and other GIS staff to design and implement streamlined business processes and to optimize corporate geospatial and data workflows
- Develop GIS related policies, standards, procedures and processes.
- Lead the development and implementation of data standards and processes to support the effective maintenance of corporate GIS datasets.
- Handle cadastral maintenance and system integration processes
- Maintain all easement, transfer and by-law documents. Provide documentation for internal clients as needed
- Manage GIS-related solutions, data and analysis projects
- Responsible for conducting detailed spatial analysis
- Work in conjunction with other technical staff to troubleshoot, resolve problems and administer corporate GIS applications.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum five years’ experience related to the duties listed above, normally acquired through the completion of a university degree in Computer Science, Geography, Geosciences, GIS Environmental Management or a related discipline
- Considerable hands-on experience in providing technical support to GIS and related systems (install/upgrade, set up, configure, trouble-shoot, perform detail technical work with vendors and ITS staff, etc.) to sustain reliable system functionality in a medium to large sized corporate environment, preferably in a municipal setting. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience working with ESRI’s ArcGIS software suite (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and web GIS applications)
- Experience working with geospatial ETL tools to transform and translate data (e.g. FME)
- Knowledge and proficiency in GIS related scripting languages such as Python, SQL, Arcade, ArcPy, as well as workflow tools such as Model Builder.
- The ability to adapt to new technologies and be current with industry trends and outlooks.
- Knowledge of survey principles and practices and their use in GIS cadastral products and integration processes.
- Knowledge of legal survey plans. Including being able to interpret property descriptions (metes & bounds, Parcel Identification Numbers (PIN)), survey plans, documentation from Land Registry Office title searches and other sources of spatial data.
- Knowledge of Co-ordinate Geometry (COGO) principles and the ability to use COGO to enter survey plans in a GIS environment.
- The ability to adapt to new technologies and be current with industry trends and outlooks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, stakeholders and external vendors.
- Ability to manage a workload where priorities are constantly changing and work in an environment with a high rate of technological change.
- Knowledge of land information requirements, field data collection systems and relevant municipal processes and policies.
- A firm understanding of database, networking and system administration concepts.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent customer and client support skills with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Must possess a valid driver’s licence with a good driving record, may require the use of a personal vehicle for business purposes

Salary Range :$86,864.00 To 102,230.00 Annually
