Are you passionate about providing excellent customer service? Do you thrive on making a positive impact? We are seeking a dedicated Property Taxation Assistant to assist customers with in-person cashier transactions, provide support to customer inquiries and help contribute to the overall success of the department.

 

Responsibilities:
 

  • Process a variety of payments via in-person, mail or electronic transfer according to standards, with daily reconciliation of Accounts Receivable  
  • Provide effective and discrete customer service through an understanding of appropriate legislation, policy and procedures with regard to payment options, account balances, due dates, late payment penalties, tax certificates and receipts  
  • Administer monthly payment program; process applications, property ownership changes and program transfers, remove delinquent accounts, balance and transmit electronic files to financial institutions  
  • Process returned payments, debit customer accounts and prepare balance sheets for payment batches  
  • Provide assistance and back-up coverage to the Assessment Technicians and Taxation Supervisor
Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:
 

  • High school diploma plus three years of recent and related administrative experience in a customer service and cashier/payment support role  
  • Experience working within an assessment and tax or accounting environment is an asset
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, combined with discretion and judgement in dealing with confidential information  
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team  
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and accounting practices, including cashier and payment support procedures  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related data base software systems 

 

Conditions of Employment:
 

  • Submission of a Satisfactory Criminal Record Check 
Salary & Benefits

Pay Range: $48,539.40 - $60,678.80
