Description
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Enhanced Digital Field Technician. Reporting to the Manager, Police Support Services and under the supervision of the Divisional Digital Field Technician Program Coordinator, the incumbent provides specialized, technical support services to RCMP Investigators related to digital evidence and the production of extraction reports. The primary duties of the incumbent are to handle and extract data from various electronic devices in a forensically sound manner and produce an extraction report for the investigation. Work is completed within specific guidelines of policies, procedures, legislation and in line with their specific training.

Requirements

Applicants must have a Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline from a recognized educational institution and a minimum of 1 year of relevant technical experience. Attainment and maintenance of Digital Field Technician course(s) as per RCMP E Division Digital Forensics Services, as well as attainment and maintenance of RCMP Reliability/Security Clearance is mandatory. Applicants must have a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

Salary & Benefits

This is a unionized position. $43.66 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2024 Rate), based on a 35 hour work week.
