Position Summary
RECENT GRADUATES WILL BE CONSIDERED.

Working within the Systems Development division in IS&T, the Systems Analyst I will work closely with experienced professionals to implement, support, maintain and enhance municipal information systems, ensuring the efficient functioning of technology solutions that contribute to the delivery of public and corporate services.

The Systems Analyst 1 will execute and further develop their skills in software development, business analysis, systems analysis and support.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

System Analysis and Design:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze user requirements for information systems.
• Assist in the design and development of scalable and efficient systems solutions.
• Participate in the evaluation and selection of software applications and technologies.
• Study operational problems and opportunities to determine how people, data, processes, communications and information technology, can best accomplish improvements for business.

Implementation and Support:
• Contribute to the implementation and deployment of information systems.
• Work with project managers and business personnel in the scoping and identification of project deliverables and creation of project specific documents.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for end-users, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
• Collaborate with IT staff to perform software upgrades and system maintenance.
• Perform system configurations, minor programming and development.
• Act as the point of contact for the department while providing excellent customer service.
• Provide business users with assistance and advice on the effective use of applications and information technology.

Data Management
• Assist in the development and maintenance of data models, databases, and data integration processes.
• Ensure data integrity and security by implementing appropriate measures.

Documentation
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Generate reports and analysis to communicate system performance and user and customer trends.
• Provide general office administration support; duties may include correspondence, record keeping, producing reports, and responding to general inquiries regarding a variety of programs, services, and policies.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications, Competencies
3 year diploma or degree in software engineering (systems development), computer or engineering technology diploma or related field

Recent graduates from any of the above programs will be considered

1 year experience in applications development (programming, variety of languages) and support. Ideally within the .NET framework preferred.

Troubleshooting software and data integrity issues (often in liaison with vendors)

Experience with relational database technology; including SQL development.

Experience with reporting writing, analytics, web, and data integration technologies (e.g. SSRS, PowerBI, Crystal reports, web services).

Must demonstrate Corporate Competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork.

Skills, Abilities, Work Demands
Knowledge and experience applying systems development methodologies, business/systems analysis techniques;

Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills

Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities and multiple tasks

Strong customer relationship management skills

Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

May be required to work outside normal business hours occasionally

Required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check.
