Description
G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre is recruiting for casual Building Service Worker IIs to perform maintenance work in the general operation and service maintenance of ice arenas and other associated buildings and equipment in municipal recreation facilities. The Building Service Worker II - Arena performs various maintenance functions involving ice making and resurfacing, building equipment maintenance and repair, custodial and cleaning tasks as well as minor and touch-up painting if required.

Hours may vary but the successful candidate(s) must be able to work night shifts (up to 37.5 hrs/week).

Requirements

Requirements include Grade 11 or equivalent; Building Service Worker Level 2: Hard Floor Care; Refrigerator Operator certification (RO); over three months and up to six months related experience; WHMIS certification valid within 1 year; Occupational First Aid Level 1 as required; a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence; satisfactory police information check (with Vulnerable Sector); and sufficient physical strength to perform the work and stamina to work varying shifts. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $35.35 per hour plus 15% pay in lieu of benefits.
