Housing, Landlord & Tenant Advisor
Community Services Department
Position Type/ Hours: This is a permanent full-time position working thirty-five (35) hours per week.
Position Description:
- Initiate mediation with landlords and tenants to facilitate resolutions.
- Interpret Provincial legislation; Residential Tenancies Act and the Mobile Home Sites Tenancies Act. Municipal policies and procedures & other regulations.
- Assist in evaluating and monitoring Provincial and Federal contracts pertaining to Homelessness and Affordable Housing.
- Advise internal/external customers on program issues.
- Advise on housing trends, promising practices, and emerging community needs.
- Develop and implement landlord& tenant program goals, objectives, measures, outcomes and prepare related reports.
- Determine and direct appropriate method of service/delivery; eg. Information, facilitation, training, coaching mediation, intervention or referral.
- Consult with community members/group.
- Coordinate F.C.S.S. special projects as required.
- Maintain web page, 24 hour information line, and data base.
- Coordinate Landlord & tenant Advisory Board (LLTAB) meetings and education sessions.
- Collect, compile and assemble reports and statistical information for distribution internally and externally.
- Perform regular rental market surveys.
- Develop and maintain budget by completing projections and variances for the Landlord & Tenant Program.
- Ensure that service standards and quality measures of agency/community/client needs and demands are established, implemented and monitored.
- Participate with the administration of FCSS emergency community response as required eg: through involvement with the Emergency Operations Centre and the Reception Site. Within the guidelines of the department continuity plan.
- Maintain all required files, statistics and report.
- Develop and maintain an effective work relationship that is sensitive to the individual differences and culture.
- Conduct community consultation and maintain partnerships.
- Facilitate public education and information sessions.
- Develop & maintain a close relationship with key stakeholders.

| Requirements |
- Two (2) year diploma in Business Administration or related post secondary education in addition to three (3) years experience.
- Mediation and conflict management training.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse populations of individuals& groups.
- Demonstrated problem solving and crisis intervention skills.
- Valid Class 5 drivers license with a person vehicle for use during business.
- Successfully completion of a criminal record check.

$68,465 (Starting Range) – 87,016
