Planner I/II - Long Range (3-6 Positions)
Planning & Development Department
Position Type/ Hours: These are permanent full-time positions working thirty-five (35) hours per week.
Position Description: Planner I
Under general supervision, will assist with the formulation and preparation of statutory planning documents and reports; undertake components of studies, research and produce statistical analysis and provide solutions to contemporary planning problems. Support the subdivision and development areas, and prepare reports and site plans.
Planner II
Under general supervision research, prepare and present statutory documents, reports, studies, and statistical analysis for planning projects to include solutions to contemporary planning problems.
Assist with the investigation and analysis of community planning issues to address future growth requirements. In addition, this position will provide back-up coverage for the subdivision and development functions.

| Requirements |
- Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is an asset.
- Effective communication, presentation, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills are required.
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Valid class 5 Driver’s license and a personal vehicle for business use is required.
- Must be willing to attend evening meetings and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be medically and physically able to perform all duties of the job on an ongoing basis.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and tactfully handle planning and development enquiries.
Planner I
- A Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following: urban and regional planning, geography, architecture, or engineering. An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and direct work experience may be considered.
- Working knowledge of computer drafting and mapping systems is required.
Planner II
- University Degree in urban and regional planning, geography, architect, or engineering or related discipline, is required along with two (2) years direct experience. An equivalent combination of post-secondary education, such as a Planning Technology Diploma, and four (4) years of direct work experience may be considered.

PL 18-19 (commensurate with experience)
Planner I
$38.96 - (Probationary Rate)
$42.75 – $45.82 (Permanent Rates)
Planner II
$40.34 - (Probationary Rate)
$44.27 – $47.47 (Permanent Rates)
