Description

Coordinator – Print Layout and Production
Communications Department

Position Type/ Hours: This is a relief position working thirty-five (35) hours per week for approximately five (5) months.


Position Description: Individuals in this position, under supervision from the Manager, Creative Services, work with all municipal departments to lead the layout of internal and external publications in accordance with municipal brand standards and accepted design elements and, coordinate and facilitate production of internal and external communication product collateral. This position also requires close interaction with all three branches of the Communication Department to ensure that work requests are delegated and completed promptly and accurately.


 

Requirements

  • Post-secondary computer software technical training supported by an accredited two (2) year diploma in Print Journalism or Graphic Design is required.
  • Minimum two (2) years directly related experience as a print layout coordinator or graphic designer plus a minimum one (1) year directly related experience as a copywriter / journalist.
  • Experience coordinating production efforts to ensure top quality results with a variety of vendors.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite CS3 or greater – including (but not limited to) InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and experience in production of graphics for web environment using ImageReady.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Proven ability to follow standards, as well as be creative and flexible in a team environment.
  • High enthusiasm for field of graphic design.
  • Ability to work to both independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated practice of pre-press and printer liaison.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with co-workers, elected officials and the public.
  • Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines.

 
Salary & Benefits

PL 16

$36.41 (Relief Rate)

In addition to the rate of pay, we offer other attractive incentives:
-an additional bi-weekly payment of $480 which represents a cost of living allowance
