Corporate Properties & Buildings (CPB) is The City's landlord, developer and real estate manager. The business unit builds for The City's business needs and for Calgary's growth and future needs. This includes critical land and buildings for transportation, emergency response stations, operation sites and administrative buildings. Our vision is to deliver optimal solutions with a triple bottom line, sustainable delivery.
Responsibilities
The work of Corporate Properties & Buildings is exciting, fast-paced and challenging in nature. Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Services, the incumbent will lead the development of mid and long-term workplace accommodation strategies including policies and standards. This work is conducted within the Corporate Workplace Framework and specific duties include:
- Co-ordinate ongoing development and progress reporting on the corporate land framework.
- Conduct and report on strategic land planning projects.
- Respond and provide input to municipal planning initiatives and documents.
- Undertake business development initiatives (e.g. organization effectiveness, market research).
- Asset planning and budget development and requests.
- Business case development.
- Represent CPB on relevant corporate initiatives.
- Engage stakeholders in strategic efforts.
- Direct studies and strategies within the section.
- Work planning and organization.
- Staff recruitment, development and management.
- Consultant and project oversight.
As an integral member of the division's leadership group, the incumbent must combine a strong work ethic with mature team skills and contributions. The delivery of work and interactions must demonstrate Corporate Properties & Buildings’ desired culture.

| Requirements |

Qualifications
The successful applicant will possess a certificate (equivalent to two years of full-time study) in Facility or Program Management with a minimum of 10 years of planning, policy and strategy development experience in a public service environment. Equivalencies of education and directly related experience will be considered. The ideal candidate has previous supervisory experience along with familiarity in municipal planning policy and processes, and facility accommodation experience.
Success in this position requires an individual with a range of experience, optimistic ambition and a passion for excellence. The successful candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills combined with relationship and analytical abilities. A degree and/or a professional designation will be considered assets.
