October 13, 2017

The Region of Peel's 2017 Infrastructure Status and Outlook Report shows that 92 per cent of the Region's infrastructure meets or exceeds the asset requirements set by Council.

The Region of Peel owns and operates more than $26B of assets including roads, bridges, buildings, pipes, fleet and equipment to support services in Affordable Housing, Child Care Centres, Homeless Shelters, Long Term Care, Paramedics, Transportation, Waste Management, Wastewater and Water.

"Residents and businesses rely on good quality assets every day to live well and thrive," said Stephen VanOfwegen, Commissioner of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. "Investing in our assets and building new, critical infrastructure helps us achieve the service outcomes that our community deserves like maintaining paramedic response times, increasing the quality of life for long-term care residents and delivering safe drinking water. We are proud that our efforts to keep people and goods moving throughout Peel are well recognized by Council."

Through proactive, long-term planning, staff continually monitor the condition and performance of assets to ensure a state of good repair and achievement of target levels set by Council.

The Region's Asset Management Plan guides Regional investments in services, programs and infrastructure to meet the needs of Peel residents, businesses and community partners today and in the future. It also supports the Region's 20-year Strategic Plan with a vision of building a Community for Life across Peel.
