The City of Fort Saskatchewan is a vibrant economic and cultural hub located just 15 minutes northeast of Edmonton on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. Home to more than 20,000 people, the City proudly manages state of the art recreation, culture and historic amenities including 50 km of outdoor trails, a performing arts theatre and fitness centre within the Dow Centennial Centre, and the 1875 – 1885 NWMP Fort representation in historic downtown.

The City of Fort Saskatchewan’s Public Works and Engineering Department is currently recruiting for the position of Facilities Maintenance Operator II. Reporting to the Superintendent of Parks and Facilities Management, the Facility Maintenance Operator II must sustain a level of maintenance to ensure that a safe, healthy, comfortable environment is provided for facility users. Additional responsibilities include HVAC preventable maintenance, coordinating inspections and repairs for all fire suppression and safety/security systems, general maintenance duties, minor repairs (relamping, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, patching and painting), furniture moving, transporting recycle materials, investigating, troubleshooting and reporting of facility operational concerns as they pertain to facility interiors and building envelopes. This position would also encompass collaboration on Capital Projects pertaining to City facilities.

 

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and minimum two years building maintenance experience. A strong mechanical aptitude with experience and working knowledge in the operations of a variety of power and hand tools used in carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical work and painting is required. A Fifth Class Power Engineering Certificate, Building Operator Certificate, and Ballast Changing Certificate are assets. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing.

This position is within the scope of C.U.P.E. Local 30, and as such, you will be required to adhere to the articles contained within the Collective Agreement. A current driver’s abstract will be required at the time of interview.

Salary & Benefits

Rate of Pay:           $24.33 - $26.74 per hour

Hours of Work:     40 hours per week, on call rotation
