Position Description:
• Provide general supervision and management of the Capital Projects Team to include responsibilities and accountabilities for capital and operating projects delivery.
• Oversee construction progress on all capital and operating projects, ensure quality control, responsible for environmental compliance and adhere to organizational policy and procedure and report on status of the projects delivery.
• Lead and manage the contract administration of construction and engineering service contracts.
• Assist in the development and implementation of branch/departmental goals, objectives and priorities for service delivery.
• Provide leadership to align branch staff regarding Corporate Policies and strategic goals.
• Provide engineering, project management expertise and leadership with respect to infrastructure projects delivery.
• Manage principles and applicable legislative reviews and provincial/federal initiatives.
• Lead, manage and coach/mentor project managers and technical staff for their professional development.
• Support and/or hire staff to deliver capital and operating projects.
• Facilitate and coordinate developing departmental, organizational and regional plans.
• Plan, design and supervise capital and operating projects.
• Participate in projects/committees that are related to corporate and organizational goals and objectives.
• Examine and prepare recommendations relative to policy issues and outcomes.
• Develop plans based on analyzing organization’s needs for delivering capital and operating projects.
• Develop, administer, manage and control capital and operating projects budget.
• Oversee the preparation of projects, financial status report and budget variance.
• Develop annual cash flow plans for projects.
• Ensure Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo representation at industry and association events and ensure the collection of latest thoughts and trends.
• Consult and liaise with public, community groups, stakeholders and media.
• Ensure that the service standards and quality measures of community needs and demands are established, implemented and monitored.
• Collaborate with internal and external resources to achieve optimum service level.
• Develop and manage the Industry and Alliances and Associations Plans.
• Present a consolidation view of industry and association materials and findings.
Qualifications:
• You will possess a Civil/Municipal Engineering Degree and a minimum of seven (7) years progressive experience as a project manager, experience on construction projects, managing multi-year programs and projects, and three (3) years supervisory experience supervising program and project teams.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) is mandatory.
• Preference will be given to – Project Management Professional (PMP) members.
• Proficiency with relevant computer applications is required.
• Strong analytical, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven ability to achieve self-set goals and targets with independent initiative.
• Medically and physically able to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to multi-task and handle many competing priorities.
• Valid Class five (5) Alberta driver’s license.
