Description
The City of Kawartha Lakes Public Library serves a population of 75,000+ residents and seasonal guests. The Library system has 14 branches in towns and villages distributed throughout the Municipality, with library administration offices located in Lindsay.

 

Job Description

Under the direction of the City of Kawartha Lakes Public Library Board, the CEO/Library Director is responsible for the operational and financial management of the Kawartha Lakes Public Library and for advancing the Library’s strategic direction in a manner that reflects the organization’s mission, vision and values. The CEO/Library Director serves as Secretary and advisor to the nine member Library Board and acts as its primary representative to the community, community organization s, media, municipal administration, other levels of government and professional organizations. The CEO/Library Director works closely with the municipal departments and members of the City’s senior management team.

 

As the CEO/Library Director, you will ensure that the Library is operated in accordance with all relevant legislation and best practices and develop policies and procedures to guide efficient and effective library operations at all 14 branches. You will provide vision and guidance to library staff, board members and the community. You will create a welcoming, user-friendly and safe environment that encourages all community members to use library services. You will oversee the selection, acquisition, organization and maintenance of the library’s print, archival, and digital collections. You will demonstrate strong fiscal management through the development and monitoring of annual budgets that align with the library’s strategic plan. Your excellent leadership, strategic planning and coordination skills will enable the Library to continually improve service quality and customer satisfaction.  As a community leader, you will work to strengthen existing community partnerships and build new ones.

 

Requirements

Requirements and Qualifications

You will be a motivated leader with a passion for providing superior library services to the residents of Kawartha Lakes. You will have completed a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program and have a minimum of four years of progressive management experience in a unionized public library environment. You will have a strong understanding of fiscal management, information technology, technical services, collection management and strategic planning. You will have superb organizational and team building skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills. The position requires travel throughout the Municipality to attend meetings. Some overtime and early/late meetings will be required.

Salary & Benefits

Salary:  $102,020 - $119,349
