PROJECT MANAGER – MACKENZIE VAUGHAN HOSPITAL BUILDING CODE COMPLIANCE

CONTRACT – THREE YEARS

Responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team of building officials in the enforcement of the Building Code Act and the Building Code to facilitate the timely completion of the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital (“MVH”), including review of applications, issuance of building permits and building inspections.  MVH is a City of Vaughan (”City”) Term of Council priority and requires close monitoring, coordination and support by BSD in order to support the timely completion of the project. The incumbent is the primary contact from BSD on all matters related to building permit processing, inspections, site visits and meetings with the construction team and the owners/operators of the MVH.

Requirements

Qualifications and experience:

  • Successful completion of a University Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or suitable equivalent.

  • Eligibility for full membership in Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) is an asset.

  • Working familiarity with the Project Management Professional (PMP) body of knowledge and PMP certification would be beneficial.

  • Excellent working knowledge and application of building construction, building code act and the building code related to complex buildings, preferably hospitals.

  • Qualified under the Building Code as a Supervisor/Manager.

  • Possesses a minimum of five years’ work experience in extensive project management and contract administration experience in planning, coordinating, designing and constructing, complex, multidisciplinary projects in a municipal or public sector environment.

  • Successful track record in leading effective project teams and developing collaborative business relationships.

  • Ability to deal effectively at all levels of the organization and the public while exercising excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills; coupled with the ability to prioritize activities to successfully meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in the City’s core competencies.

  • Proficiency in the use of general computer software, i.e., Microsoft Office Excel and Word, including applicable Project Management, and data base type software.

  • Must possess a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License in good standing with access to a reliable vehicle for business purposes.

  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
