The City of St. Albert is accepting applications for a term assignment as a Property Assessor II within our Assessment & Taxation department.  This position is primarily focused on valuation of residential and non-residential properties on a market value basis using computer assisted mass appraisal techniques. Other responsibilities include presentations before the Assessment Review Board and the public.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Post secondary graduation from a recognized technical program related to assessment and appraisal together with the successful completion of the UBC Real Property Assessment Certificate.

Minimum of 4 years related work experience.

Knowledge of provincial and municipal legislation, construction methods and techniques, real estate market economic trends, statistical techniques and understanding of computerized mass appraisal systems. 

Proficiency with software such as Microsoft Office Suite and CAMA systems.

A high level of interpersonal skills, diplomacy and professionalism to interact with a variety of clients; together with strong oral and written communication skills.

Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.

Preference will be given to applicants having an Accredited Municipal Assessor of Alberta (AMAA) Accreditation. Candidates with fewer qualifications are encouraged to apply and may be considered at an Assessor I classification. Equivalencies may be considered.


HOURS OF WORK

72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks).

TERM

Approximately six months, with the possibility of extension.

Salary & Benefits

COMPENSATION

AMAA Accredited Property Assessor II
$77,838- $94,701 per annum.

Non– Accredited Property Assessor I
$57,929 – $70,479 per annum.

In addition, the City of St. Albert offers comprehensive flexible benefit package.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory police information check.
