Responsible for providing water distribution and wastewater collection systems modeling to support the hydraulic and hydrological analysis of existing and proposed water and wastewater infrastructure. This function will support water and wastewater service delivery objectives by providing expert analytical advice which will predict the hydraulic performance of the water and wastewater systems and other related projects. Provides input into the technical review of watermain and sewermain repair and replacement projects and development applications. This position is also responsible for updating the water and wastewater models by adding information from GIS, flow monitors, operational observations and other information as needed. The modeler will perform trouble-shooting and risk assessment of the models. Provides technical support to staff.
Qualifications and experience:
A university degree in Civil Engineering or suitable equivalent. Active membership in the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario. Three to five years’ experience in water distribution system modeling and wastewater collection system modeling. Working knowledge of InfoWorks CS modeling software. Working knowledge of InfoWater modeling software. Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work both independently and within a team environment. Excellent analytical skills. Ability to work outside normal business hours as required and in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
