The City of St. Albert is looking for a GIS professional to work collaboratively within our Corporate GIS team to serve the needs of City of St. Albert clients requiring geographic-based information and analytics. As an Analyst you will be responsible for developing and/or supporting web-based and mobile GIS applications and other spatial corporate applications and databases. You will share in developing and maintaining both standard and custom map products.  You will also be responsible for sharing data management activities, including data capture, data update, data conversion, and corporate database development. Additional analysis, client technical support and client software training will also be required.  The role requires that you both proactively and reactively support the technological, business process, training and technical support needs of clients and must be able to juggle multiple projects with constantly evolving priorities.

The individual we seek is conscientious, client focused, has a high level of initiative and excellent interpersonal skills. You have an aptitude for learning new technology and have the ability to translate business needs into GIS solutions. You must excel at managing multiple projects at the same time, and dealing with competing priorities. High quality communication skills are required.

HOURS OF WORK

We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks).

Requirements

GIS diploma or degree from a recognized program combined with a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Geography, Engineering or a related field.
Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of one of these qualifications.

3 - 5 years of progressive GIS experience, preferably in government operations. 

Experience in ESRI software, programming and development, data modeling, field data collection, web mapping.

The candidate requires comprehensive knowledge of the ESRI ArcGIS Suite, database concepts, data modeling, data usage and translation, Microsoft Office, web and online mapping.

Preferred candidates will be familiar with ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Modelbuilder, ArcGIS Online, GeoCortex Essentials, FME, Oracle or SQL Server, XML, Python and ArcObjects, Mobile data collection.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory police information check.

Salary & Benefits

$72,071 - $87,686 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive flexible benefit package.
