Financial Services Department for an experienced and motivated individual

SENIOR BUSINESS SYSTEM ANALYST

(FILE #16-2724-AM)

Responsible to analyze, implement and support process and system improvements associated with priority projects and initiatives within the City Financial Services Department. Specifically, this will include documenting current systems, procedures and user requirements; developing, coordinating and facilitating training programs on new processes and system functionality; and acquiring the skills to support departmental initiatives including the procur-to-pay cycle, point of sale, JD Edwards enhancements and expansion of the P-Card program.

Requirements

Qualifications and experience:

  • A University Degree in Finance, Commerce or related field or suitable equivalent.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience, including three (3) years’ senior financial/accounting/accounts payable experience including policy, systems and procedures development.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK).
  • Ability to develop tools and processes to support the business analysis function (e.g. AS-IS and TO-BE models, business requirements document, use case models, systems integration modelling).

  • Working knowledge and experience in the use of Oracle’s JDEdwards ERP or other large ERP system experience.

  • Ability to develop sound working relationships with all stakeholders, both internal and external.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to use tact in dealing with sensitive/confidential or controversial topics.

  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and balance multiple non-routine responsibilities and shifting priorities, while maintaining a positive attitude.

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in the City’s core and leadership competencies as well as relevant departmental functional competencies.

  • Excellent computer skills, including advanced knowledge in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft applications. An emphasis will be placed on enterprise, budget system and financial modeling knowledge.

  • Valid Ontario ‘G’ driver’s license, in good standing, and access to a reliable vehicle for corporate use.
