The City of St. Albert is hiring for a key member of our Utilities department who is responsible for the coordination, communication, monitoring and reporting of the City’s waste and diversion programs. Reporting to our Director of Utilities, this position oversees the operations and staff responsible for the residential automated waste collection program as well as manages the external contracts for the curbside organic and recycling programs. This position will be the key contact for the public and media to respond to inquiries, acting as a representative for the City of St. Albert on regional initiatives and provide waste diversion education residential, commercial and institutional sectors.

 

The individual we seek has great interpersonal and communication skills, combined with a strong desire to provide great service to our residents.

 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The preferred applicant will have a degree in Environmental Sciences, Business Administration or Engineering. A technical diploma may be considered.

  • We seek individuals with at least three years of related experience in the areas of waste management, diversion programs and contract administration.

  • Knowledge of construction and maintenance equipment and best practices and operations related to solid waste operations.

  • Experience in public education, consultation processes, group facilitation, public speaking or media relations would be considered an asset.

  • Successful candidates will have complete familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Knowledge or experience with websites administration systems, graphic design or desktop publishing software an asset.

Salary & Benefits

COMPENSATION

$82,221 - $100,033 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive flexible benefit package.

 

HOURS OF WORK

We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 5:00) with a regular day off (RDO) every two weeks.
