The City of Medicine Hat, Parks and Recreation Department is currently looking for permanent Shift Supervisors (Lifeguard II) to join the Aquatics Team.  This unionized supervisory position requires energetic individuals in the lifeguarding and instructional aspects of aquatic services.

To be successful in this role, you bring excellent interpersonal skills coupled with a strong desire to provide outstanding customer service; effective communication skills and strong organizational skills with flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities while attending to details and ensuring accuracy.

As part of our process candidates must pass Aquatic Services Physical Fitness Standard.  This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of eighteen (18) years of age;

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;

  • Possess current:

    • National Lifeguard (NL - Pool) Award (Family Leisure CentreàNL - Waterpark Option; Echo DaleàNL - Waterfront Option);

    • Lifesaving Instructor Award;

    • Standard First Aid (Level “C” CPR) Certificate, issued within the past 12 months;

    • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Award;

  • Minimum of 600 hours lifeguarding experience, with at least 300 similar-facility hours and 200 instructional hours;

  • Ability to carry out the responsibilities of Shift Supervisor as outlined in the Guidelines for the Operation of Public Aquatic Facilities.
