Description


 Applications are invited for the permanent position of Water Treatment Plant Operator in the Public Works Department. Reporting to the Water Treatment Plant Manager, the successful candidate will work with a team of professional Water Treatment Plant Operators responsible for the delivery of safe potable drinking water to the residents of Prince Albert.

This competition will also be used to fill a potential vacancy as a Relief Operator.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary duties will include but will not be restricted to: monitoring the operation of pumps, filter, reservoirs, sedimentation basins, operating screw pumps, clarifiers, controlling water pressure, application of chemicals, lab testing of raw and finished water. The successful candidate will be expected to work effectively with limited supervision in exercising sound independent judgment in making decision and resolving work problems.

 

Requirements


•Post-Secondary Diploma in a relevant science or engineering discipline or current Class 2 Certification in Water Treatment
•Maintain an independent course of study (supported by the City) to achieve a Class 4 Water Treatment Plant Operator’s Certificate within 5 years;
•Grade 12 education
•Valid Driver’s License
