TRANSIT CO-ORDINATOR
(SPECIALIZED TRANSIT & POLICY DEVELOPMENT)
(Temporary – 1 Year approximately)
Facilities and Transit Department
Under the general guidance and direction of the Manager of Transit, the Transit Coordinator (Specialized Transit and Policy Development) position is responsible for administering the day to day operations of the City’s Specialized Transit service, ensures regulatory compliance and provides service change recommendations to the Manager of Transit for approval. In addition, this position acts as the coordinator of all City of Barrie Transit Branch related policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Overall, this position plays an integral role in ensuring an efficient and customer-friendly transit service for all customers, and most particularly specialized transit customers.
Applicants must have:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
- Three (3) year College Diploma in Business or related discipline
- Transit Scheduling and Runcutting Level I Course from the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA)
- Transit Scheduling and Runcutting Level II Course from the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA)
- Moving People – How Transit Works Course from the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA)
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s Licence in good standing with a reliable vehicle for use on corporate business
Experience
- Five (5) years of experience in a similar role with business and financial analysis experience, including three (3) years of experience with specialized transit service and AODA regulatory requirements
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Working knowledge of conventional bus services and specialized transit services
- Working knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
- Computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Outlook, Word) the Internet, database software, scheduling software, and social media platforms
- Intermediate computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Excel
- Strong verbal and writing communications skills
- Ability to travel in all weather conditions to various ticket agent locations within the City of Barrie
The 2016 salary range is $58,640.40 to $70,252 per year ($32.22 to $38.60 per hour). The hours of work will be 35 hours/week. For full details regarding this position, please visit our website at www.barrie.ca.
