Provide direction and supervision for the re-use of all biosolids produced at Niagara's ten (10) Wastewater Treatment plants including storage/land application, dewatering, and alternative technologies.
Review and analyze biosolids analysis for performance to Certificates of Approval and Regulations.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory Environmental Protection Act, MOE regulations, Certificates of Approval, Nutrient Management Act.
Coordinate biosolids sampling and analysis programs for the Water and Wastewater Operations group.
Assist in managing the daily operations of the area's wastewater treatment plants and remote facilities ensuring their efficient operation and compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Manage and ensure the proper scheduling and availability of the area staff for scheduled and emergency situations.
Provide technical guidance and direction to operators in both routine and emergency situations.
Provide training to staff and support staff development.
Control and assist in the preparation of the area budget including variance reporting.
Provide input into the design of new and upgraded sewage treatment processes and facilities from an operations perspective and direct the startup and takeover of new and upgraded treatment facilities and remote locations.
Knowledge
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in biosolids, water or wastewater systems.
- Work with chemical analysis, database management, statistical analysis of data and dealing with the public.
- Knowledge / Experience/Additional training in contract administration / interpretation / negotiations.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software and database management.
- Must have experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Developing leadership skills
- Practical experience with GPS, Niagara Atlas (or GIS, ArcView) is an asset.
- Knowledge of farm practices is an asset.
Education
- Completion of University degree in Science or Engineering or diploma in Civil Engineering Technology
- Must be certified or eligible for certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT), or P. Eng designation or an EIT (Engineer in Training).
- MOE Class I Wastewater Treatment Certificate and MOE Class I Wastewater Collection certificate
- Non-agricultural Operation Strategy Development Certificate is considered an asset.
- Additional training in Agronomy is desirable.

Special Requirements
- Must possess a valid class G driver's license.
