ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST-DEVELOPMENT

Responsibilities:
As the Engineering Technologist – Development you will be responsible for administering the construction related provisions of subdivision, development, servicing, model home and site plan agreements including the pre-construction, substantial completion, completion approval, maintenance, development security adjustment and assumption processes. You will coordinate with the Municipal Services Inspectors and other City staff to ensure that the installation of municipal services for new development projects comply with City standards and specifications. Review, analyze and provide technical support to field staff regarding the design and construction of municipal services, and the administration of the subdivision and site plan agreements. Respond to complaints, concerns and matters arising from municipal servicing projects and agreements including acting as City representative in accordance with City policy. Liaise and respond to enquiries from the public, Members of Council, City departments, government agencies, contractors, consultants, developers, builders and utility companies.
Qualifications and experience:
- Community College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or suitable equivalent);
- Eligible for membership in the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) as a Certified Engineering Technologist with a C.E.T. designation.
- Minimum of five (5) years proven, progressive and more responsible municipal services engineering inspection and municipal contract administration experience;
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, staff, Council Members, etc.;
- A valid class “G” Ontario driver’s license in good standing with a reliable vehicle, when required, to utilize on city business;
- “Competent” by having completed the City of Vaughan or Ministry of Environment course on Confine Space Entry including artificial resuscitation and the use of breathing apparatus;
- Possess a working knowledge of Ontario Traffic Manual, Book 7, Traffic Control Manual, City of Vaughan Design Criteria and Standard Drawings and the City of Vaughan policies/procedures and good construction practice;
- Successful completion of suitable road and sewer inspection courses and/ or contract administration offered by the Ministry of Transportation or Environment, Industry Association’s and/ or other registered educational institutions;
- Computer literate and proficient in WINDOWS, OUTLOOK, MS WORD, MS EXCEL, PEOPLE SOFT (CSMS), PWMS (ETN) and have a good working knowledge of information tracking database systems (DTA)
