Reporting to the Municipal Administrator, the Director of Parks & Recreation is accountable for the effective leadership, advice, and support on all parks and recreation matters. Specific responsibilities include: administering public recreation services, an extensive network of trails and parks, 24/7 operations, a golf course, and multiple recreation facilities. 

The Director serves as part of the corporate senior management team jointly responsible for inter-departmental collaboration, corporate policy development, and implementation of the strategic plan.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a blend of natural leadership and technical skills, strong relationship building qualities and a commitment to delivering exceptional public service and progressive, environmentally sound, sustainable best practices. He or she will be an excellent communicator and natural facilitator, a champion of service excellence with a focus on organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

Qualified applicants will have a University degree with a focus on parks and recreation or a related discipline and a minimum of 10 years extensive experience managing a diverse portfolio at progressively more senior levels, preferably in the public sector. 

Salary & Benefits

The salary for this exempt position is $12,551 - $14,677 per month with an excellent benefits package.
