The Winnipeg Police Service is offering an exciting opportunity for those interested in a career within the WPS, as an Audit Accreditation & Risk Supervisor.  The successful candidate must be able to identify and objectively analyze complex issues, interpret needs, develop innovate and practical solutions to problems, and design or adapt services or products to meet the changing needs of the organization.

Under the general direction of the Manager, Organizational Development and Support, the Audit Accreditation & Risk Supervisor provides leadership and strategic direction in the planning, development, and implementation of a comprehensive audit, accreditation and risk management program for the Winnipeg Police Service to support the Winnipeg Police Board’s governance responsibilities and promote effective and efficient business operations. This position plays a key role in promoting, developing, implementing and integrating effective controls throughout the Service to support the achievement of business objectives and strategic plans; provides leadership and direction to the Audit & Accreditation Unit; and ensures the continuous improvement of services and performance related to audit, accreditation and risk management within the Service.

Requirements

Your experience includes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Public Administration an asset

Applicants educated outside of Canada must have education which is comparable to the minimum qualification in Canada. Applicants submitting foreign credentials require an official academic assessment report issued by a recognized Canadian assessment service AT APPLICATION 

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • Professional Accounting Designation (e.g. CPA) an asset
  • Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) an asset
  • Minimum 48 months of progressively more responsible internal auditing experience in a public sector or large corporate setting.

Requirements include:

  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • 18 years of age
  • Ability to meet and maintain the standards of a Winnipeg Police Service security check / background investigation and required police clearances
  • No involvement in any criminal activity within the last two years (including illegal drugs)

  • No criminal record for which a Pardon has not been granted
