THE TOWN OF HIGH RIVER INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR A 

Utilities Technician I

Permanent, Full-time

Operational Services

$26.59 – $28.77/hour

The successful candidate will be required to perform duties with skills of a specialized nature within a wastewater, water, and storm sewer environment.  The Utility Tech I must be able to work with minimal supervision, and occasionally will be required to perform a wide variety of duties and tasks associated with position descriptions of equal or lesser responsibilities.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

The successful applicant:

  • Must possess a Grade 12 diploma (or GED equivalent).
  • Two (2) years municipal water and wastewater experience.
  • Two (2) years of competent Heavy Equipment Operations (i.e. hydrovac/jetter, tandem truck).
  • Physical strength and agility sufficient to perform the duties of this position.
  • The following certificates:
    • Confined Space Entry and Rescue
    • Trenching
    • H2S
    • Fall Arrest
    • Flagman
    • WHMIS
    • Basic First Aid and CPR

Applicants with Alberta Environment Water Treatment I, Waste Water I, formal training in the areas of heavy equipment operation, underground utilities, Water and Wastewater Technician Program Diploma and Class 1 Alberta Driver’s License are considered assets.

Success in this position requires basic computer skills and the ability to understand and comprehend oral and written instructions.
