A Citizen Service Representatives provides excellent customer service through effective and efficient handling of general inquiries for all departments and provides detailed services for integrated departments. This includes a broad range of customer service activities and all methods of contact such as phone, walk-in, e-mail, fax, Language Line, Textnet and Ubi-Duo (devices for hard of hearing patrons). Provides information specific to the client’s needs regarding programs and services the City of Vaughan offers. Citizen Service Representatives are responsible for responding to inquiries from citizens, staff and Members of Council; both in the Call Centre and at the Information Desk, including those of a confidential, sensitive and/or controversial nature. Responsible for opening and updating case files/work orders for multiple departments and referring callers to appropriate levels of government or agencies when required.
Qualifications and experience:
- Community College Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Customer Service (or suitable equivalent);
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in customer service within a Call Centre or other related front line customer service experience;
- Proven record of demonstrated ability to provide high quality customer service;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written;
- Ability to work in a computerized environment and possess high proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook;
- Must be able to adapt to using a variety of software applications: VTax, JD Edwards, Knowledge Tool;
- Excellent spelling is required along with proven keyboarding and data input skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment;
- Must be able to multi-task while remaining fluid/adaptable to changing needs;
- Strong time management and organizational skills;
- Must be flexible in work schedules and available to work overtime and rotating shifts, weekends and evenings as required;
- Ability to communicate in a second language is an asset.
