We have an exciting Full Time, Unionized opportunity in the

City Financial Services Department for an experienced and motivated individual

CITY CASHIER

(FILE #15-2345-LL)

Responsible for processing payments received from customers for City services, products, utilities bills or for departmental requirements. Maintains and secures cash registers and balances, batches and prepares the cashier’s balance report at end of each day. Prepares and places the armored and non armoured cash and cheque deposits each day for both couriers in lockable deposit bags. Assists and responds to customers inquiries. Attends to the two (2) City drop off boxes each day and processes the payments as required. Adheres to the City’s internal control procedures in regards to proper cash handling and adheres to the City’s policies as it relates to the Payment Card Industries (PCI) Standards for credit cards.

Requirements

Qualifications and experience:

  • Community College diploma in business, accounting or finance related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years cashiering or cash handling experience with three (3) years working experience in an accounting or financial environment.
  • Good computer skills including spreadsheet applications, word-processing applications and large system applications.
  • Exercises sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information or material.
  • Ability to deal efficiently and courteously with the public, staff and the ability to work independently.
