NOTICE OF VACANCY

 

FACILITY SERVICES ELECTRICIAN

Facilities and Transit Department

 

The Facility Services Electrician position ensures electrical systems for corporate facilities and equipment are functioning properly and maintained in accordance with legislative/regulatory requirements and manufacturers warranties and/or design standards.  This in turn allows continuous operation of Facilities equipment/systems in keeping with community health needs and sound asset and risk management practices.

 

Corporate Facilities Services maintains facilities and assets for 43 buildings, which total over 2 million square feet, and have a replacement value over $630 million.

 

 

Requirements

Applicants must have:                                                                                              

Key Qualifications (under review):

 

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)

  • Secondary School Diploma.
  • Two (2) year College Diploma in a technical, or engineering program or related discipline is preferred
  • Certificate of Qualification as a Construction Maintenance Electrician 309A (this requires 9000 hours of related training and work experience under the Trades Qualification and Apprenticeship Act)
  • Certificate of Completion in Thermal/infrared Thermography, Level I and Level II is preferred
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence in good standing

 

Experience

  • Three (3) years of experience (four years’ experience is preferred) (beyond apprenticeship) as an electrician in large, complex, multi-faceted facilities.
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of BAS systems and related equipment is preferred

 

Knowledge/Skill/Ability

  • Ability to read and understand detailed technical drawings (i.e. Blueprints, shop drawings).
  • Thorough working knowledge of Ontario and Canadian Electrical codes and Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) requirements.
  • Knowledge of health and safety protocols and safe work procedures.
  • Proficiency in the use of MSOffice Suite software (particularly Word, Excel, Outlook), plus ESA continuous safety software.  Working knowledge of CMMS systems (Archibus, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Predictive Technologies including but not limited to infra-red thermography, ultra-sound devices, laser alignment, etc.
  • Completion of CPR / First Aid / Z462 arc flash training / lockout tag out / or willingness to complete.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, teamwork, initiative/self-management, time/project management, recordkeeping, and flexibility/adaptability skills
  • Ability to deal with contacts in a courteous and efficient manner to promote a high standard of public relations at all times.
  • Availability for overtime and standby responsibilities and ability to respond to after-hours operational, maintenance and emergency issues as required.

 

 

Salary & Benefits

The 2014 salary range (under review) is $52,252 to $62,972 per year ($28.71/hr to $34.60/hr).   The hours of work will be 35 hours/week.   For full details regarding this position, please visit our website at www.barrie.ca
