Under the general supervision of the Controller and as a key member of the Finance team, the Grant Coordinator will assist and support the accounting and reporting of grants, coordination of the overall corporate grant process, providing guidance with grant requirements, and centralizing the process of grant administration. The Coordinator will identify sources of grant funding available to the City of St. Albert and work closely with City departments to ensure a consistent approach in the application and administration of the various grants. This position will ensure that applications, funding claims and financial reporting are submitted according to the grantors' requirements.

In addition, the Grant Coordinator will assist in the preparation, budgeting, accounting, and financial record keeping of all of the City’s grant programs and contracts. He/she will also monitor activity in the ledger designated for restricted grant funding by verifying, analyzing transactions and discrepancies, and taking corrective action as necessary.

As a new position within the Finance team, this individual will have the opportunity to develop and recommend processes and policies that will guide the organization into the future.  Working with a number of internal and external stakeholders will provide a variety of experience and learning opportunities.

The Finance team is comprised of a multitude of skilled individuals who work collaboratively to provide a valued service to the organization. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has recognized the team with the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting (past 14 years) and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award (past 7 years).

HOURS OF WORK

We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks).

The successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory police information check.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Undergraduate degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting, Finance or Public Administration, or equivalencies based on financial/municipal experience, and working towards/final stage of an accounting designation.

Experience with grant writing, processes and reporting is an asset.

Strong knowledge in accounting principles and policies in a multi-divisional environment.

Microsoft Office Suite (proficiency in Excel), Internet, and PC operation. Agresso financials & database experience desirable.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication skills, multi-tasking skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex financial data to a variety of users.

A self- starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

 

Salary & Benefits

COMPENSATION

$63,184 - $76,873 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive flexible benefit package.
