SUPERVISOR – WASTEWATER & STORM DRAINAGE OPERATIONS

Responsible for:

In accordance with all applicable Federal, Provincial, and Municipal Acts and Regulations, responsible to supervise wastewater and storm drainage operations, spill response activities, protective maintenance programs and repair activities for all parts of the wastewater and storm drainage collection infrastructures; responsible for the creation of protective maintenance programs and activities in consultation with the manager; prepare and maintain all associated records, reports and paperwork; and provide backup support to the other Supervisors in the Environmental Services Department as assigned.

Requirements
  • Community College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or suitable equivalent.
  • Maintain membership in the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
  • Possession of a valid Wastewater Collection Level 3 Operator Licence or higher acquired through written examination, is preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressively more responsible municipal water/wastewater and drainage maintenance experience, including three years (3) years supervisory experience preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of Municipal wastewater and storm drainage
  • Proficient computer and keyboarding skills, including well developed knowledge and application of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent oral / written communication, interpersonal and public relation skills, coupled with effective analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proven customer service skills are essential to deliver “Service Excellence” to Vaughan residents and customers for the City’s wastewater collection system and stormwater collection infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in the City’s core competencies and relevant functional competencies.
  • Competent in confined space entry in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • A valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license in good standing.
  • Available to work beyond regular hours as required.
