DRIVER & COMPLIANCE TRAINER

Responsible for:
The administration, development and delivery of the vehicle and equipment training and testing programs, involving the coordination of the City’s risk management and safety program in consultation with staff. It is also responsible for performing Driver License Checks and Abstracts, investigating and analyzing collisions/ incidents while making recommendations for the required follow-up actions ensuring future prevention. This position will also develop and maintain a data retention system for the administration of training and operating records; ensuring compliance with the provisional guideline while ensuring the City’s Corporation’s Commercial Vehicle Operator Record (CVOR) is in good standing.
- Successful completion of a two (2) year Community College diploma in Health and Safety, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, or suitable equivalent.
- Successful completion of an Adult Learning Certificate and / or Facilitator Certificate is an asset.
- A minimum of five (5) years of related driver/operator training experience, preferably in a municipal operations environment.
- Experience in conducting self-audits based on compliance with MTO requirements. (Specifically CVOR facility audits)
- Successful completion of a Defensive Driver Course (DDC) or Professional Driver Improvement Course (PDIC) or Fleet Driver Training Program. (Including Air Brakes).
- Must be eligible to become a MTO signing authority.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the OH&SA, MTO and corporate safety standards, legislation, regulations and policies.
- Experience in the operation of municipal equipment and municipal activities and safe work methods and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate orally and in written format with all levels of learning coupled with excellent administrative skills.
- Ability to foster collaborative working relationships with all levels of staff, agencies, clients and the public.
- Strong program / project management, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure with strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to conduct oneself in a manner bestowing tact and diplomacy in a political environment.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in the City's core competencies and relevant functional competencies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must possess at minimum, a ‘DZ’ license with a clean driver’s abstract.
