Policy Planning Department for an experienced and motivated individual
PLANNER I
(1 Year Contract)

Responsible for:
Under the supervision of Planners, Senior Planners, Manager and/or Director, the Planner 1 will participate in a range of planning exercises, including the preparation of secondary plans and area specific official plan amendments, the Block Plan approval process, long-range planning and policy development studies, data collection, monitoring and analysis., Responsibilities include the preparation of study documents and detailed reports with recommendations to Council; providing the public, other Municipal departments and Regional and Provincial authorities with information on both general planning matters and specific applications; attending various public meetings in regard to policy planning and related matters to provide information and receive input; attending City Council and Committee meetings to provide information, make presentations, and receive input into planning initiatives; support planning staff and legal counsel at Ontario Municipal Board hearings; and implement the goals and objectives of Vaughan Vision.
- University degree in a Planning related discipline.
- Eligibility for, or membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners/Ontario Professional Planners Institute is required.
- Minimum one (1) year related municipal experience, with a focus on Policy Planning.
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, staff, developers, elected officials.
- Well-developed written, verbal, graphic and presentation/communication skills.
- Well-developed critical judgment, analytical thinking skills, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to use various corporate computer software programs, as required.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, surveys, and material submitted in support of land use planning studies.
- Knowledge of Urban Design.
