The City of Cranbrook is located in the southeast corner of British Columbia amongst the majestic Rockies and Purcell mountains, in close proximity to Alberta and the Canada/USA border.  With a population of approximately 20,000, Cranbrook is the largest community in the East Kootenay with a trading base of approximately 70,000.  Cranbrook provides an inviting lifestyle in a beautiful setting that has made our City a welcoming and growing place in which to live, work and play.

The City of Cranbrook is currently recruiting for the position of Human Resources (HR) Manager. 

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Computer Services, the HR Manager position is accountable for strategic development, implementation, and management of the Human Resources functions for the City of Cranbrook.  The responsibilities of the position include recruitment, compensation and benefits, labour and employee relations, employee health and wellness, and training and organizational development.  The position works collaboratively with managers to recruit, retain and align high-performing work teams with the goals and objectives of the City of Cranbrook.  This position is also accountable for related budgeting, payroll and HRIS with the support of a Compensation and Benefits Coordinator and a HR Clerk.  

Requirements

The qualifications for this position include a degree or diploma in Business or Administration with a concentration in human resources management, along with at least seven years of related professional experience.  An equivalent amount of education and experience will be considered. 

Preferred candidates will hold a CHRP designation, and extensive experience in labour relations including collective agreement interpretation, grievance handling, and collective bargaining.  Additionally, the successful candidate will bring strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork and facilitation skills.  Excellent organization, planning and analytical skills with an ability to apply creative solutions are required, as is the ability to think and work strategically with key stakeholders.
