ROADS OPERATIONS FOREPERSON
Roads, Parks and Fleet Department
The Roads Operations Foreperson position plays an integral role in the maintenance management of the City’s infrastructure including roadways, sidewalks, the sanitary collection system and the stormwater system to ensure proper operation and adherence to municipal policies, procedures and by-laws and compliance with related legislation, regulations and standards.
The Roads Operations Foreperson position supervises the daily activities of staff within the Roads Operations Branch and routinely investigates, detects and responds to reports of hazards and/or deficiencies that may adversely affect the City’s infrastructure and consequently, public safety. Lastly, this position is responsible for developing maintenance plans to help extend the lifespan and investment of the City’s infrastructure.
Applicants must have (under review):
Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
- Secondary School Diploma (3 year College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology or related discipline is preferred)
- Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) Designation from the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) is preferred.
- Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC), Operator-in-Training Licence in Wastewater Collections. A Class I licence in Wastewater Collection is preferred.
- Certified Roads Supervisor Designation from the Association of Ontario Road Supervisors (AORS), Certified Roads Supervisor Intermediate Designation is preferred
- Stormwater Management Course from the Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA)
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence in good standing. DZ driver’s licence in good standing is preferred.
Experience
- Three (3) years of related experience, including previous supervisory experience in a unionized work environment. Five years experience in municipal operations is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in contract writing, contract administration/management and contract field control is preferred.
The 2014 pay range is $75,504 to $91,169 per year ($36.30/hr to 44.12/hr), 40 hours per week. For full details regarding this position, please visit our website at www.barrie.ca
